Investment Casted Bronze Ornamental Water Faucets

For my final project at HSLU, I explored investment casting to design bronze water faucets—both ornamental and functional—for public pipe-based water sources. Inspired by Switzerland’s abundant potable fountains, the aim was to redefine the meaning and value of water through thoughtful design. Using SLS 3D printing for precise, low-waste prototyping, I focused on the physical qualities of water to inspire concepts that enhance how people experience and appreciate it.

The Hand uses Michelangelo’s Creation of David as inspiration to make people think of water as a blessing. However, the reference is rather niche and maybe even plagiaristic, hence, I chose to use just the image of a hand which could even be nostalgic of when people stand in a shower and saw the water stream down their arms and fingers thinking they are waterbenders.
