The Personal Plant-care Companion

Terra is your personal plant care companion, combining the Terra app and the TerraSense tracker to make plant care simple and stress-free. The app uses a growing database of plant species to guide you through their specific needs.

Pairing with the TerraSense tracker unlocks premium features like real-time soil, light, and humidity tracking, a plant sitter mode for when you're away, and a plant doctor that diagnoses and treats issues using its data and an extensive online library.

The app is a simple, yet well laid out application that is user friendly and displays information succinctly and in an easy to- understand manner. The colours and the widgets are all designed for the app to be casual, yet sophisticated and not intimidating. It has vast functionality and various screens for all sorts of actions and has a well thought out business model.

The final module design features a concave face with an LED ring as a passive signifier and two prongs, now with pointed ends for easier soil insertion. The face is reserved for branding rather than a solar panel, leaving room for future upgrades.

An Arduino-based proof of concept demonstrated the system’s ability to monitor plant parameters effectively. This setup, though large and educational, can be miniaturized with a custom motherboard to save space, accommodate batteries, and fit seamlessly into the module design.
